Third Time's the Charm

Winter has pretty much settled down here in Michigan. I've accepted it. Here's some inspiration for how to stay chic and warm this winter.

Starbucks Red Cups

Here's the latest accessory that I've been rocking this finals season: the Starbucks red holiday cup. The only reason I go outside these days is to either walk to Starbucks to get a drink or to walk to the library with said Starbucks drink. I'm so ready to be done with this semester. But in all honesty, I actually get really excited when I see these cups popping up everywhere; it means the holidays are upon us, the happiest time of year!

Serena van der Woodsen is the nice and down-to-earth 'It' girl in Gossip Girl. She is also Blair Waldorf's best friend. At the start of the show Serena returns after disappearing for a year, supposedly returning from boarding school for good. After Blair hears that her best friend is back in town she should be very pleased, however she takes this as an attempt to dethrone her role as Queen B, making Serena's return a very unpleasant one to say the least. Anything boys can do girls can do better!

Blair Waldorf is the most iconic TV character in fashion since Carrie Bradshaw. Known as 'Queen B'at her private school Constance Billard, Blair is a junior who holds the power to ruin anyone who gets in the way of her reaching her goals. She always wears a headband as if it was her crown and is constantly followed around by her entourage of minions who help her scheme. Besides being an evil queen, Blair is without a doubt the most fashion-forward student at school and her mom being a fashion designer may have a bit of an influence with that. Blair is never seen wearing last-seasons items and is consistently adorned in fashion's latest necessities. For this post I've chosen 4 of my favorite Blair outfits from season 1 and 2.

This '90s trend has made a major comeback.

The high-neck halter trend highlights the collarbone and shoulders, revealing some summer skin in a less traditional way. The conservative nature of the neckline lets you get a bit more adventurous in other areas, such as low-side panels or open backs, while still managing to give off a sophisticated feeling for the overall look. The Grand Budapest Hotel is a spectacularly-told story featuring adventure, comedy, drama, romance, and quirky characters, but what really caught our eye were the stunning colors. The color choices in this film ranged from strong, vivid hues to softer, pastel shades, but it seemed that every color on the screen was bright and chock-full of life -- like candy for your eyes. The costumes, of course, were no exception. 

There's something about the combination of white on white that looks clean, crisp, and refreshing -- perfect for the summer! As the season starts to wind down, we wanted to showcase three looks featuring the white on white trend in hopes that summer will stay forever... but also to inspire you to incorporate the trend into your outfits :).
