Inspiration Boards: Game of Thrones
9:43 AMHave you joined in on the Game of Thrones mania? We're definitely on the bandwagon. The show has inspired quite a few crazes across the world including baby names and huskie purchases (and sadly, subsequent huskie abandonments). If you're not familiar with the show, Game of Thrones is a fantasy drama television series created by HBO and is based on George R. R. Martin's fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. The show involves a web of interweaving story lines featuring several noble houses in a civil war over the Iron Throne. We highly recommend the show, but be warned--a rather large portion of it is very much NSFW.
With the show's new reveals at Comic-Con 2014 and the recent finale of the show's 4th season, we were inspired to re-create some of the show's amazingly-detailed (and Emmy-winning) costumes!
Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys Targaryen is arguably one of the most epic characters in Game of Thrones. Played by the Emmy-nominated Emilia Clarke, she goes through a huge transformation in the show, and picks up quite a few titles along the way...here is her full title for your appreciation: Daenerys Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of Meereen, Queen of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, called Daenerys Stormborn, the Unburnt, Mother of Dragons. It's a mouthful. We chose one of her looks from the earlier days of the show, when she is still quite innocent and demure (pre-Mother of Dragons).
Cersei Lannister
Joffrey Baratheon
As much as we don't like Cersei Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon is infinitely worse. Joffrey takes the Iron Throne after the death of his "father", King Robert Baratheon. Joffrey's uncle Tyrion Lannister expresses in words how pretty much everyone feels about Joffrey being the king of the realm: "We've had vicious kings, and we've had idiot kings, but I don't know if we've ever been cursed with a vicious idiot for a king." Clearly, he was a great guy. But personality aside, Joffrey had a pretty stellar wardrobe in the show, one that is definitely fit for a king. We recreated one of his outfits below:
Dsquared2 wool sweater / Veronique Branquinho red cape / STELLA McCARTNEY legging / Frame Denim black skinny jeans / Balenciaga riding boots / Fratelli Rossetti black boots / Yukié Deuxpoints black jewelry / Tory Burch belt / Valentino black belt / Leaf headband / Dolce Gabbana headband crown
Thanks for reading! :)
